Security and Life Safety

Responsibilities:
The objective of Security Department personnel is to provide for a safe and secure environment for all employees, visitors, and guests. Also, it is the responsibility of the staff to cooperate with law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel.

Description of Duties:
The intern will be involved in various departmental activities such as verbal and written communication, surveillance, fire safety, access control, computer programs related to security, i.e., Secure Perfect, Key Watcher, Excel, etc., as well as exposure to a professional working environment. This internship will be a valuable learning experience for an individual with interest in Criminal Justice, Fire Safety, and Private Security. Student will work in the Security and Life Safety Office, attend meetings, and be exposed to a number of security related issues in the facility. Student will assist in a variety of ongoing projects in an effort to improve security and life safety at Thirteen/WNET New York.

Student’s Accountability:
Student will report to the Director of Security and Life Safety and will participate in ongoing security projects.

Educational Requirements/Special Skills:
College Level (senior) or higher familiar with computer programs, i.e., Word, Outlook, and Excel. Criminal Justice, Fire Safety, and or Security Management.

Opportunity Profile:
This internship will give the student the opportunity to observe and participate in maintaining the security and safety for a major television station. Student will receive orientation on company computer network and have the opportunity to learn about the Secure Perfect Security Access Control Computer Program and surveillance. Student will also learn about contract security officers, security procedures, investigations, and fire safety. Student will work in a professional business environment and have daily interaction with employees, visitors, and guests.

Hours: 24 hours per week
