Waterfalls Begin Flowing Today
June 26th, 2008 at 1:05 pm

This morning, Danish artist Olafur Eliasson opened the spigot on his public art installation, “The New York City Waterfalls.” The artist, in association with the Public Art Fund, erected four 90- to 120-foot-tall waterfalls in the New York Harbor, situated in Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Governor’s Island.

Location

The waterfalls are located at the foot of one of of the Brooklyn Bridge towers (pictured); between Piers 4 and 5 in Brooklyn, adjacent the Brooklyn Heights Promenade; on Pier 35 in Manhattan, north of the Manhattan Bridge; and on the north shore of Governor’s Island.

Exclusive Thirteen documentary about the falls

Thirteen will air a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the falls, including an interview with Olafur Eliasson, on July 2nd at 8pm.
