On March 6th & 7th, 2009, New York's flagship public television station, Thirteen/WNET, and WLIW21 will again host thousands of K-12 educators in New York City for their premier professional development conference, the Celebration of Teaching and Learning. The central themes or "content strands" of the event will be Science, Global Awareness, Math, Instructional Technology, English Language Learners, Literacy, Whole School Policy and Engagement, and Autism Understanding and Integration. Educators will hear from a range of dynamic, nationally acclaimed speakers, including keynoters Alan Alda (on science), Sir Kenneth Robinson (on creativity), Temple Grandin (on autism), and the cast of the new "Electric Company" (on literacy).
